AQUACULTURE, SOLAR & MORE! Was a passive solar home, garden & fruit trees. House had no HVAC system. Solar heating & natural cooling = zero heating/cooling bills over life of house. Small wood stove supplemented heat in winter. 2nd well for irrigation & for the pond dug in 1996. The 2nd well is surface water & was used typically until Oct. or Nov. Pond is 30×80’+/- with a 60 mil. EDPM liner & geo tech liner overlay for a natural look & to retain soil. 125 tons of river rock was placed over the liner and creek .Pond was used to raise game fish, including 12 pound channel catfish, large mouth bass, bluegill, crayfish, minnows and mosquito fish. Santa Cruz Co. Fish and Game Dept. issued a stocking permit. Hatchery/concrete structures at end of pond used to raise red swamp crayfish, minnows and mosquito fish. Anacharis plants from pond are placed in raceways for crayfish food and habitat. Pumps, timers, plumbing are intact for wells, pond & hatchery. Steel gate is wide enough for semis.
